So for being a good boy I took him for a sunny walk on the beach (Better than the last beach photo. Grab the weather while you can!)

Love the kitchen photo. I can just imagine them doing the sideways look, pretending not to notice each other, whilst keeping a safe distance. Brilliant! XX

It's taken a few months but finally all three pets will sit together (Toby is still wary of the cats though). I have no need for hot water bottles anymore! (Funny panoramic photo).

Toby still will snap if he is resting on my lap and the cats suddenly jump up and scare him but generally there is harmony! LOL.

Hi everyone I just wanted to show you a photo book I had created, this one is all about my pets, Toby is included (the other dog in the book is the one I lost in May, Banjo. I still have the cats, Ren and Stimpy, as you know. The other pets in the book are past pets). Just in case anyone else fancied doing this too, this is the website and link to my book. Cheers. Hi everyone It's been about two years since I updated this thread and for that I apologise. I am sad to say that this will be my final post about Toby. At the grand old age of 17 we had to have Toby put to sleep yesterday. He had been having some breathing difficulties and we had several visits to the vet, lots of medication, which he was responding to but then over the weekend he stopped eating (I couldn't get his medicine into him then). I spent Sunday night sleeping on the kitchen floor, steaming the room out for him and by morning I realised he had had enough and just wanted to rest his weary head. Toby has been an absolute delight, a feisty little character when it came to other dogs (cats, duck, shopping trolleys lol) and a very loving companion. He slept most of the day and loved to snuggle on my knee. He didn't get on too well with the cats but they passed away last year (aged 19) and so he had me all to himself. I could spend all day telling you about my life with him but I will just say I am happy that he was mine, even for a short while. It must have broken the hearts of his previous owners to give him up. I want to give special thanks to Deb for bringing him into our lives and for having him for his holibobs whenever we went on ours. I have written a poem about him, which hopefully will encourage people to adopt an older dog (or any dog really). Thanks for reading. Love, hugs & snuggles. xxxxxx

I'm so very sorry to hear that your Golden Oldie Toby has had to have his 'Angel Wings' fitted. What a wonderful retirement he had with you, all the love you gave to him will guide him safely on his journey to Rainbow Bridge. Huggles for you. Toby rest easy in the sunshine at The Bridge, Love Jean xxx

Thank you so much everyone. I knew our time together would be short but it was very sweet and Toby was happy with us and that's the best you can hope for. He was one of the lucky ones, he hadn't been mistreated in his former home, he wasn't in need of "repair", he came to us as a bundle of joy and love and just slept his days away. It's been our pleasure to call him our own. <3 x
