By lunchtime yesterday Toby had mastered the stairs with his bandaged foot and acting as though he'd never even had surgery. He's eating fine and having his meds no problem (not surprising when they're in a bit of sausage ). He came a little stroll with Bella in the evening but his mean foster mummy wouldn't let him have a run round on the field like he wanted to! So far he hasn't once tried to chew at any of his stitches so hasn't had to wear his fashionable 'lampshade'. We're all going over to Morecambe today to be fussed by my relatives - they all adore the dogs and already have a definite soft spot for Toby having been Yorkie owners themselves. He's back at the vet's in the morning for a check-up and bandage change. Overall things couldn't be going better!

Little lad is back home and still very groggy from the anaesthetic and the pain medication he's been given. He has had 4 large warty growths removed, one from his thigh, one from between his eyes and two from his chest, all stitched up. He has also had the big fatty lump removed from his chest - more stitches. The solid lump on his foot was attached to the tendon and the back pad - this has been taken off and his lower leg is now well bandaged up. He has had a full dental with 10 teeth removed and the rest, following a good clean, look remarkably good for a yorkie his age. Poor Toby really does look like he has been in the wars. What a brave little stitched up Teddy!! I missed this one but because I have not been on I am sorry Deb! In a few days he will be a different dog mostly because of the teeth lord bless him. He is lucky to have you and what an amazing little lad.

Toby is doing really well - the bruising is going down. Back at the vet's in an hour for his post-op check and to have the bandage on his leg replaced.

Toby is doing ever so well! He goes back to have all his stitches out on Monday morning. Once we have the results back regarding the removed lumps, we'll know what the next step for this little guy is. I'm so impressed at how Toby has taken it all in his stride - he's a remarkable little man!

I'm so happy I could cry! I've just been to the vet with Toby to have his stitches removed and get the results of the tests done, and......... ALL lumps were benign!.

Hi Deb
I have been reading about Toby, he looks a sweetheart. I am wondering how he is doing and whether a home has been found for him yet?
We lost our dog of almost 14 years, on 1st May and the house feels quite empty (we still have two cats) we are considering taking in an older dog (puppies never seem to have a problem finding a home).
Would we be able to come and visit to see how things go (when he is well enough)? We are in St Annes.
Cheers.

Angel x Hi Angel, Toby is now fully recovered and looking for his new home so YES, please do apply for him! He will have his own thread in the 'Our Dogs Looking For Homes' area in the next day or two but if you have any questions in the meantime please ask! Deb x

Toby is a senior gentleman at 15 years of age and had been with his owner since he was 10 weeks old. Sadly, due to changes in the owner’s work contract, Toby was being left for much longer periods than is desirable and his owner felt he would be happier if rehomed with someone at home most of the time. While in foster care several lumps were discovered. A vet assessment concluded that aside from the usual warty 'old age' lumps, and a large fatty cyst on his chest, Toby also had a hard lump on his back left foot that was cause for concern and needed removing asap. This operation was a complete success! Toby is now fully recovered and looking for his retirement home. He in currently in foster care with two other dogs, but does not interact with either of them and would prefer to be the only dog in the household. Toby loves to be with his owner whenever possible but is not demanding and will wait until invited to jump onto your knee or the sofa. He can be left for 2-3 hours, but ideally we would like a quiet home where someone is around throughout the day. Due to Toby's poor eyesight he may snap when startled therefore needs a home where there are NO RESIDENT CHILDREN with any visiting children being age 10 and over. Despite his age, Toby thoroughly enjoys his walks and a good run on the field, and is always first in line to have his harness put on! Due to him being virtually deaf with deteriorating eye-sight, he has not been allowed off-lead. He will ignore other dogs when out unless they get too close, at which point he may snap. The same goes for people, including children - if he can see them approaching he is fine and friendly, but if they suddenly appear and get very close he can snap. Toby shows a lot of interest in cats when out and about, although is not at all aggressive, and has lived with one in the past. Toby, like most dogs, loves his food and treats. He is not at all possessive. All toys are ignored and Toby prefers to spend his days quietly in his bed, on your knee or (weather permitting) stretched out on the patio, sun-bathing! In his foster carer's words: "Toby is a very easy dog to look after and a delight to have around. He does sleep for much of the day, if possible on your knee or beside you, but adores his two walks a day and it's vital he gets these in his new home. He's recovered beautifully from his operation/dental and is now back 100% on dry/biscuit food to keep his remaining teeth sparkly white! In my opinion Toby would prefer to be an only dog or homed with one that won't bother him." Toby is fully vaccinated, neutered and micro-chipped. If you are interested in adopting Toby please complete our online adoption form here:

and someone will give you a call as soon as possible.

Toby now has a homing thread in Our Little Dogs Looking for Homes, but we'll leave this thread here for a little longer for people to catch up on his progress and the lovely news that he has now been given a clean bill of health.
We'd like to thank everyone for their wonderful donations, and incredible support, and for caring about Toby. I know Debs has thoroughly enjoyed fostering this gentle senior. XX

Hi Deb
I am having the same problem with the adoption form. Where it asks how many adults in the house, I originally replied that I had 4 but had two adult children. The problem seems to be that I put words in that field as well as numbers and even though I keep deleting those words, it tells me there are words there and won't send the form!
I am away for today so was hoping to resend the form before I go. I leave about 1.00pm today and will be back about 5.00pm tomorrow.
Please advise.
Cheers.

Hi again
I have cheated and changed the number to just two adults (my children are only home temporarily), I hope this doesn't cause confusion. The form has now been sent.
Cheers.

The smiles on my childrens' faces (adults!)when they found out that Toby was not one of my guest dogs but in fact a rescue dog and that we were keeping him! The void in our home and the hole in our hearts have been filled by this complete bundle of love! I can't believe how quickly he has taken to us all, he follows me around from room to room (my old dog did that too) and just reaches up to be cuddled all the time. It's so wonderful to sit and snuggle this little hot water bottle LOL. My husband said he is my very own Tatty Teddy (I have them all over the house!).
He is a complete contrast to my old dog (who was a complete lovable nutcase!), Toby is so gentle and sweet and only barked once when he met the cats (who had a little chat with him to explain who is boss!).
I could go on all day about how we have all fallen in love with him and how cuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuute he is! All I can say is thank you so much for letting us take him, he will be smothered in love by us all and our friends who come to visit. If my typing goes aww funmy iths becuz Thoby jumt in my laaap and I carnt tiyep propli! LOL.
I will post some photos very soon and keep you all updated of his progress. Once again thank you so much for this wonderful, happy little dog.
Cheers.
Sheana, Andy, Dan & Lacey xxxx
