Hi all we gave tessa a home nearly 2 years ago and she has had a lot of fun with her new sister Nina.
Unfortunately Nina died this morning at 8.20am from cancer. (girlytrude) she sat on your knee the whole visit we are as a family absolutely devastated at the loss of our beloved nina but so is tessa she looks lost too.
I will post some pics whe i get them off the camera thanks for everyone at little dog who gave us the opportunity to have tessa having her around today has eased the blow slightly hopefully she will cope with it like we do.

Oh Mick, I'm so sorry to read this news. I remember doing the homecheck and loving the cuddles with Nina, such a lovely girl. It's so hard to lose a best friend, and you'll find plenty of people here who understand that process.

Give Tessa extra hugs from me. And if/when you are ready and feel able to love another you'd be welcomed. XX

Thanks for your replies so kind of you all. I will get round to posting some pictures of Nina and Tessa this week. Girlytrude thank you for the offer and if a westie does come up for adoption i would be of course interested , i am worried that tessa may get a bit lonely and depressed over her lost sister.

So sorry to hear your sad news it doesn't get easier no matter how long they're with us. A long time ago when I only had 2 Shiddie boys, they adored each other and didn't like to be apart. Sadly Gizmo had kidney failure and passed away, Barney was so depressed and pining. My vet put him on a low dose of animal Vallium for a few days to help him. It did work and helped him, we did adopt another one which helped even more.

No worries. I think I may even still have photos from my visit to you. I lost 4 dogs last year, so I know how hard it is. It takes time, but you will reach a point when the good memories override the sadness XX

I am so very sorry you lost Nina and poor Tessa. It is harder somehow when you also have a grieving furbie left behind.

Well i have got home from work today and tessa was on her own for 1 hour and she been sick all over, i am hoping that this is a blip and not something wrong with her i am going to phone the vet first thing and have a word with him.

How is Tessa?

I fostered her briefly..she was a little angel!

When I lost three westies in close succession, my remaining dog was poorly for a few weeks after the last one died. The vet said physically he was fine, but dogs do grieve.

Tessa is doing fine the vet has told me that tessa should be ok in a few days, he said to just make sure she doesnt lose any weight and not to change her routine.
I have walked tessa a little bit more than normal little walks it seems she is happier out of the house. But apart from that she is a lovely little girl i do feel for her she bonded so well with nina. she is getting loads of attention from us all maybe too much at times be we all feel we need to reassure her.
