This dainty little lady is Bella... A very different little dog to the one that arrived with us just over a month ago. Just look at her - all tucked-up and defeated. Bella's foster carer has worked a not-so-small miracle with this girl, and now describes her like this. "Bella is an absolute darling who just wants to be with her human all the time. She loves to curl up next to you or sit on your knee but does not like to be picked up or cuddled. She would be happy as an only dog provided the person will be around for most of the time, but if she's to be left at home regularly then will be better homed with another older, less boisterous dog to keep her company. Whoever takes Bella into their life/home will know how it feels to be worshipped and adored! She's a gem!" Whilst fine in the home with another dog, Bella will not accept pestering. The same on walks. Basically, she's a people pooch. Cats are ignored when out on walks, but may chase within the home. However, she stops when told so may well be able to live with a dog-savvy cat. Our girl is fine with respectful children at home and is quite happy to be stroked by youngsters when out. Enjoys car journeys but can get a bit vocal when you arrive 'cos then it all gets exciting. Bella is not particularly food-orientated but may accept a bribe of cheese or chicken. Takes treats very gently, bless her. Bella is vaccinated and microchipped but came into season shortly after arriving with us, so her new owners will need to have her spayed in mid-October. BELLA HAS NOW BEEN SPAYED Could you offer Bella all the love that she needs? If you are interested in adopting Bella please complete our online adoption form here:
www.littledogrescue.co.uk/PreAdoption.html
and someone will give you a call as soon as possible.

Bella has progressed so well during her six months in foster that we think an update is in order...... In the foster home Bella does like to be the dominant dog and will make this known to any new dog entering the home. This is not done in a nasty way and the pack order is usually established within minutes of a new introduction, with Bella choosing to play or ignore the other dogs as the mood takes her. She is happy to share a bed or your lap with another dog and is generally very tolerant, but if pestered excessively by them she will give a quick snap to let them know she's had enough. Meeting other dogs on walks depends on their approach, and a snappy dog will be retaliated at. This is more likely if Bella is walking with a fellow foster dog as she feels the need to protect them. Whilst Bella will chase a cat, she does back off if it stands its ground. She has not been tested with other small furries. Bella has met children within the family from age 3 years and has behaved well around them. She is happy to be stroked by children she meets on walks. We would consider homing in a family with dog sensible children. She greets all new people with interest, although does seem to have a preference for the ladies. Squeaky toys are Bella's big love and she will amuse herself with them quite happily, but can be encouraged to share, albeit reluctantly. She has a preference for biscuit type treats (such as gravy bones) to chews, but is not a fussy eater. Bella happily travels in the car wearing a harness and loves to watch out of the window, becoming excited when the destination is reached. Due to the nature of the foster home Bella is rarely left at home. However on the few occasions she has been left for up to 2 hours she has coped well, overcoming the separation anxiety she first arrived with. She does like to sit and watch out of the window for her owner's return. Bella absolutely adores her walks above all else and has a passion for smells, wanting to stop at every lamp-post and tree possible! She does love a good off-lead run on the field too. Her recall is 90% there, but can be selective depending on distractions, and will need ongoing work. Baths are tolerated but she is happy to be brushed and have her nails clipped. She does not like the hairdryer though.

Bella has now been in foster care for over ten months. Sadly, she keeps getting overlooked. This beautiful girl has come such a long way since she arrived and, while still quite a highly strung little dog, she is so well-behaved and loyal. Bella is still waiting patiently for that special person to come along and give her a chance.

Poor Bella, she looks such a lovely girl x Has Phil blades been back in touch? I couldn't share her post on fb for some reason, would it be worth updating her thread and sharing it public...... I've shared it loads of times but it's had no effect - she's even been 'Dog of the Month' for about ....er.....2-3 months.

Such a lovely little dog, we have had many JRT`s over the years and they are such greats dogs. Has she had any offers of a home yet?

Sadly no, I think people are perhaps put off by the fact that she's not a 'cuddly' girl. Yes, she doesn't like being grabbed and hugged, but she is definitely affectionate. She'd only met me for half an hour during a visit and hopped on my lap and happily allowed fuss. She really is a sweetheart XX

Hi, We've just been looking through the dogs that need a home and we very much like the look and description of Bella. Who couldn't love a face like that? Is she still available?

Your application will be looked at in the next day or two and you will receive a telephone call from Clare (Girlytrude) who will ask you a little more about yourself and your situation. The homing process can be seen by clicking on the link below. littledogforum.proboards.com/thread/904/application-homing-processAny further questions you have about Bella in the meantime, please ask as she is being fostered by me!

Home check went brilliantly as did all the introductions! Bella behaved beautifully (apart from pinching all the resident dog's food, bouncing on the beds, sticking her head in the guy's coffee-cup for a slurp, and trying to get in to 'play' with the hens, that is.... ) Honestly, the girl's got no manners!

In case you are wondering why Bella hasn't moved to her new home yet, the resident dog is poorly so we are happy to keep Bella reserved for a little while as it's such a nice home and ideal for Bella. We'll keep you updated with arrangements. XX

My beautiful Bella will be going off to her new home tomorrow lunchtime. After 14 months in foster care, and making so much progress, she could really do with everyone sending her some calming thoughts to help her through the next few days which she is bound to find unsettling. She's been an absolute pleasure to foster - I'll miss her so very much... But she's got a fabulous home waiting for her and will thrive!

It's not easy letting them go after so long but Bella made it clear she was happy to know them, and they've promised to stay in touch and let Debs know how she's doing. It's always a sad/happy mix when the long stayers finally find their perfect home.
Good luck Bella sweetie XX

The main thing is that Bella is now with her lovely new Mum and Dad! This little lady will soon have her very own pet passport so she can travel around Europe with them - this family was well worth the long wait. ... ...to Bella, Tony & Christine.
