Hi I was a member 18 months or so ago but forgot my user name and password. I have rejoined because we re homed Jenny on 25th August 2011. Jenny is a Border Terrier (mostly) and was nine years old. She has been an absolute delight (again mostly) and is in very good health. Apart from relaying this info. we have often wondered about Jenny's previous history and would appreciate any previous history that is held about Jenny. If she was nine when we re homed her she must be eleven by now and our Vet who saw her recently said that he thought she was probably around six years old. Knowing a bit more about her history would help us explain some of her idiosyncrasies.

Thanks Amanda. Still sore but managing to reduce the painkillers!Lol.
Jenny was originally named Blossom and came to us from her previous owners. She was an 'outdoor' type, slept in the house at night but having free run of the stables/yard during the day and was a definite working terrier, keeping the rat population down. She had been bred from twice I believe (if memory serves me right), and her owners gave us her history, so her age was confirmed by them.
Border Terriers are renowned for their hardiness and often don't appear the age that they are. Terriers are generally long-lived breeds and remain fit and active right to the end, so it's possible that she is indded the age stated, but appears younger. XX

Thanks Clare for the history she is definitely a rat/squirrel chaser loves the water, doggy paddles after ducks. She is a fearless dog, not particularly other dog friendly but very much a people dog, loves a fuss and a snuggle. Any other history/information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Heather.

That's all we have I'm afraid, but I met her on her travels into the rescue and my favourite memory was being stuck in traffic on a motorway slip road, with Jenny on my son's lap, desperate to get out and chase the birds that were pecking on the grass verge! Lol XX

We did want to upload a picture but couldn't work out how to do it. I've done pictures on other forums where there was an upload image button.

Think here you need to put it onto a site such as Photobucket and then upload it.

Once uploaded to photobucket to the right of the photo (as I'm guessing new accounts are with the new layout) there are some clickable links under the title Image Links You need the Image Code, and all you need to do is click on it, it automatically copies, and then paste it into your post here. It's the link wit the tag at either end. Hope that helps, Clare XX

This is one of my photos of Jenny / Blossom, Lynne. Hi Heather! She got on fine with dogs while she was here, though she never played with them. But she was fine with mine from the moment she got here, there was never even a settling spat, and she was fine when we met dogs on walks. She would give a little growl if they got around her face, but nothing more than that. I think perhaps that being in a "gang" with mine meant that she did not get so protective of us / her own space, and also she was perhaps not here long enough to feel protective towards us at all ? Dogs do adapt to their own environments, and perhaps she feels that you are very much hers, and she has no use for other dogs' company.

I should also say that if she were 6 now, that would only have made her about 4 when she was here, and I don't think she was anything like that young. I would have said she was definitely a grown up lady dog, and 4 is very young for a working terrier. I can't be sure she was 9, as she is very spritely, but I would not have put her younger than 7.
