Maggie is a playful Chi x Russian Toy puppy who is being fostered alongside 6 other dogs. She loves to play with her toys and the other dogs she shares her foster home with. She has not had the best start to her life and so will need an owner who is willing to put in some on going training to help Maggie to gain confidence.
Unfortunately at the age of just 10 weeks Maggie's eye was injured by a cat. This was operated on and given further treatment however the outcome wasn't good and Maggie was confirmed blind in that eye and it could not be saved and so the eye was removed.
No further treatment is required.
Maggie enjoys her walks and usually has one in the morning followed by a longer walk in the afternoon, her lead walking is improving but needs work to help her focus on walking in a straight line rather than meandering from side to side.
Maggie has excellent recall and she will run straight back to you when called, clever girl
When meeting new people Maggie is a little bit scared at first and will bark, however given some space and re-assurance she will come round and give a welcome lick.
Maggie has been good with all children she has met but we feel for Maggie's comfort with having just the one eye that dog sensible children aged over 10 would be more suitable.
Maggie is still learning how to meet new dogs and can be nervous and may bark. If given time and patience she may initiate some play. Her new owners will need to continue her training in this area and give her lots of positive dog encounters.
Maggie lives with 6 other dogs in her foster home and has settled in very well with them but can be possessive of her crate/bed or if she is on your lap. A sharp No! and she will stop it, she is learning and coming along really well with this.
Maggie is happy to share her food and treats and she loves her soft and squeaky toys and is very gentle with them. She can be a little possessive of her toys but if told No! she does listen and will give them up.
Due to her time recuperating from her operations Maggie's house training has lapsed and is now a work in progress.
Despite her early incident with a cat Maggie still likes them! She is also good with other small furries.
Maggie is happy to be left for up to 4 hours and is also a great traveller, preferring to travel in her crate.
Maggie has a short coat but likes to be groomed.
Maggie sleeps in her own bed in her foster carers bedroom.
Maggie's foster carer has this to say...
"Maggie has been an absolute delight since she has been in our care, she has never bothered about the on going treatment, 4 hourly that she had since she was 10 weeks old. She loves to play and loves squeaky and soft toys, will run round the garden for ages playing with them. She loves other dogs as well and will try to entice play. She is very loyal and will cuddle and give you so much attention. She has been through such an ordeal in a short time and is such a wonderful and loyal playful companion. We will miss her more than words can say xx
Maggie is vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated.
Please note: Maggie will be rehomed with a spay agreement
