Ellie is a lively, playful little dog who will require some further basic training. She is currently being fostered alongside the family's two springer spaniels.
Ellie likes nothing more than a good play session with the resident dogs. Usually this is rough and tumble style of play. Sometimes she doesn't quite know when to stop so is learning to read when the other dogs have had enough although sometimes her foster mum has to call an end to calm things down a little. I think you could call it 'over enthusiastic play!'
She will share her bed and personal space and isn't possesive of her flavoured bone.
Ellie is an active dog who needs to be walked daily to prevent her from becoming bored. she is being walked for 30-40 minutes plus ball play in the garden. Initially she does pull on the lead but this is being helped by the use of a harness.
Always interested in new things Ellie likes to meet and greet new people/dogs on walks usually pulling to do so but the greetings are polite and friendly.
Visitors to the home can get Ellie a little excited and she will jump up to say hello but is being taught that all paws on the ground equals more fuss.
Ellie's recall around the home is good but she will require further recall training before being let off lead safely.
In the foster home Ellie lives with 3 children age 6-10 years and although her behaviour around them has been good she can become excited by them running or twirling causing her to chase and tug clothing. With this in mind any children would need to be over 6+ and aware that this mouthy behaviour does not equate to biting.
Whilst out on walks Ellie can be a bit of a scavenger, always on the look out for a discarded food wrapper. If she does manage to pick up something it can usually be traded for a treat. Indoors she is an opportunist and will take any food left unattended so care should be taken around mealtimes.
Ellie will 'sit' and give 'paw' before she is fed and is happy to be fed alongside other dogs.
Having such a beautifully soft coat Ellie does need a shower down every now and again, she doesn't mind this at all but isn't too keen on being towel dried afterwards - she prefers the hairdryer! She does make a little game of it barking and snapping at the air but she does enjoy it!
Ellie is an excellent traveller, just settling down in her crate.
She is also happy to be left at home for 3 hours listening to the radio.
She sleeps overnight in the kitchen and isn't an early riser and even enjoys a lay-in at weekends!
Ellie"s fosterer says, When Ellie first arrived her she did take a few days to show her true character. She will try to push the boundaries at first so needs a confident owner able to guide her and further her training. She does have a cheeky side to her but this just makes me love her all the more!
We have all fell for her and have really enjoyed helping her along the way to a new family.
