Please read Albion's details carefully before deciding to submit an application. Applications which do not meet the criteria will not be considered.
Albion is a delightful small crossbreed who arrived in rescue with his brother Legolas who is also looking for a new home. We are listing them individually as they could be homed quite easily as individuals, but we would also accept applications for them to be homed together.
Albion came to TLDR when his British owner suffered the loss of his wife, and having lived in Spain for the duration of their marriage needed to return to the UK to the support of family and friends to rebuild his life. The couple owned 12 dogs however, and he knew that in order to find a home and work he would need to find good homes for some of his pack. Having contacted all of the major, large rescues without luck he found us and we agreed to help.
Albion is 6 years of age and has been sharing his foster home with 2 other dogs from the same original family group, Legolas being one. Whilst he is happy enough to be part of a pack, sharing food bowls etc, he does enjoy 'me time' and will occasionally growl if another of the dogs intrudes while he is getting fuss or sitting on a lap. However, he sleeps on his own and likes his own space.
Out and about Albion meets and greets all other dogs excitedly, pulling on lead to go and say hello, but once he has done so he quickly calms down. He is currently walked for an hour a day where he gets a good run around, and at weekends he has a longer trip out to the beach or park which he loves. He can pull a little on the lead when first setting off, but settles quickly into a steady, easy walk and will only then pull when he's excited by another dog or if he sees a cat.
Albion's recall is very good, although as he is gaining confidence in his new surroundings he is exploring further from his people and does sometimes need to be called twice to remind him!
Albion had previously lived with 6 cats, so we know that he is cat friendly. Since being in a foster home with no cats he is showing excitement when he sees them out on walks. This may be just playful interest, he certainly hasn't shown any aggression, but for safety we will only home where resident cats are already used to dogs and owners are previously experienced in managing such introductions.
People mean fuss, and Albion loves a fuss, so all new people are welcomed happily. He has not had a vast experience with children previously, although has shown good manners around those he has met, so we would consider homes where children are aged 10 and over.
Albion is a bit of a hoarder of items he finds comfort from. Tea towels are a favourite. His Foster Mum bought him a teddy to see if this would help, but she still finds the odd tea towel or other soft fabric item in his bed. He doesn't chew them though, merely seems to gain comfort from them.
He loves a tennis ball and will chase and pick it up, but you have to take it from him (he doesn't just hand it over), which you can do with no issue. He is fed a dry complete and loves his bones and additional treats.
Albion can be left at home for 4 hours with a radio on for some background noise. He is left with toys and chews and although he may bark a little initially, he settles easily and is not destructive. At night he settles downstairs easily, although did need to just check where his Foster Mum and Dad were sleeping on the first night, then took himself back downstairs and settled without a sound.
This handsome little chap travels well in a car. He is happy to be groomed as he loves the attention, and with a short coat grooming is easy.
Albion has been a joy to foster and his foster Mum has this to add:
"Albion is is a very obedient dog with lots of character and will make a good family pet"
Albion is neutered, vaccinated including rabies, microchipped, flea and worm treated.
Summary
A home as a solo dog will be considered if Albion will not be left for more than 2-3 hours at a time
We will consider homing Albion individually, or with his brother Legolas as a pair
Very dog savvy cats considered, where owner has prior experience of sensible introductions
Resident or visiting children aged 10+
Regular active walks
If homed with another dog, maximum left 4 hours
