Please read Molly's details carefully before deciding to submit an application. Applications which do not meet the criteria will not be considered.
Molly is a 10 year old JRT X who came to the rescue after the death of one of her owners. She was always a 'Mummy's girl' and Dad found it hard to cope after the loss of his wife, with Molly pining and losing her zest for life. He felt that she would benefit from a complete change of scene and renewed interests, and what a difference it made indeed!
Molly has really come out of her shell in her foster home, and after a little initial grumbling at her doggy companions she has accepted them happily. She is also very tolerant of dogs she meets out and about. She doesn't tend to want to play with them, preferring to sniff and walk on, but shows no negative behaviour either.
Being true to her terrier nature though, Molly is a definite cat, squirrel and bird chaser and we are looking for a home without any of these for their safety!
Molly is nicely behaved around children, but at her age we would prefer to home where there are no resident young children, and where visiting children are aged 12 +. She is a senior girl, used to a quiet, senior home, so children are a relatively new experience.
Molly is a real foodie, and carries a little extra weight as a result. Regular exercise and reducing her food intake has not really seen a reduction in her weight, so it's possible she is a heavy set crossbreed mix (her previous owner believes she is crossed with a Cavalier), but it would be sensible to restrict too many treats and extras.
However, this love of food makes her immensely responsive to training with treats, and she will do anything for you if you have a tasty treat to hand. She is quite possessive of her toys, and prefers to play without the interruption of other dogs, but will happily interact with humans.
Molly loves travelling in the car and will hop straight in, settling comfortably on the back seat on a harness or seat belt clip. She walks well on lead, and her recall is good, unless distracted by a cat!
Molly can be left at home for short periods but does miss her human companions, so we would prefer to home to a non working home, perhaps a retired couple who have the time to devote to her, but still active to offer walks, play and stimulation.
Over the Christmas period her foster home has had many visitors and Molly is always excited, barking at the door, but greeting new faces with enthusiasm and a waggy tail. She does jump up at times, but is easily corrected, and once the visitor sits down she will nudge or prod them with her paw for a stroke.
Molly is happy to be brushed, but less comfortable having her feet touched, so nail clipping may need to be done at the vets.
Like many terriers Molly grumbles. This should not be mistaken for aggression, but is a communication and a means of letting you know when she is uncomfortable with a situation. she will grumble at other dogs invading her personal space, or if she is settled and comfortable and somebody attempts to move her...well, wouldn't you?
Molly has been a delight from day one, and her foster Mum has this to say about her:
"Don't let her age deter you as she at times is as active as a puppy is...Molly loves everyone she meets and everyone who has met her has fallen in love with her, I've taken her to friends and family homes and she's so good, she gets so excited to be somewhere different then she just parks herself on the couch and makes herself at home. Molly will make a great companion for somebody, she's loyal, fun and thrives off attention, she's a really lovely little lady with a lot to offer."
Molly is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated.
Summary
No working homes
No children under 12 yrs
No cats, furries or birds
