Please read Mimi’s details carefully before deciding whether to submit an application. Applications which do not meet the criteria will not be contacted.
Mimi is a female Yorkie who came into the care of TLDR a short while ago. Through no fault of her own she found herself in a council pound at the grand age of 13.
Upon arrival she had a nasty cough and was treated accordingly and allowed to build her strength. It was also discovered she had sizeable mammary tumours, after consultation with the Vet, we were assured her heart and lungs are very good for her age and surgery would definitely be the best course of action despite her advancing years. This will also prevent any further spread of the tumours and reduce the risk of certain conditions in the future.
The surgery was carried out and Mimi has now made a full recovery, all of the veterinary staff was amazed at the speed of her progress considering her age.
I would urge you all to look past her age, after all it is just a number
She is very lively, loves to play, adores treats and gives the best cuddles! She likes nothing better than kisses, which she can only give from the left hand side of her mouth due to her sticking out tongue - this is very, very cute.
Mimi has happily shared her foster home with two quiet small dogs; however she does not seek them out for play but will share a sofa or lap. When encountering dogs outside of the home, she is fine but will give a little growl if they come too close; this is more noticeable with larger breeds. She would be more than happy to be the only dog in the home, as she is very people focused.
She walks well on a lead, quite happy to trot along and explore different smells. One or two short strolls per day are adequate but she would rather stay home during wet weather. Car travel is very good; Mimi likes to sit in the front wearing a doggy harness for her safety and comfort.
Since her arrival there has been some contact with younger children, which went fine but due to Mimi’s age we will not consider a home with little people.
Mimi enjoys her food immensely; she has two meals per day and will happily take treats throughout the day! She will accept being bathed and groomed but is not a fan of dryers!
She is 100% house trained; however she does need encouragement to visit the garden especially when raining. Can be left for short periods, she will just have a snooze.
Mimi has no known health issues.
Her fosterer has this to say “Mimi has been an absolute joy to look after; she is possibly the happiest dog I have ever fostered! Her tail never stops wagging. Despite her age she loves to engage in play which involves rolling around the floor. She adores being kissed and cuddled and will make somebody a fantastic little companion. With this in mind, she would need someone at home most of the day as she loves human company. Do you have room to offer a warm and comfortable retirement home to this fab little lady?
Summary:
A home as an only dog or a quiet older companion
No children under 12
Someone at home most of the day
No Cats
Mimi is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated.
