I initially fostered Sandy early Sept 2011. Poor wee thing arrived in a very poor state and terrified of her own shadow, and grumpy with it. She squinted in sunshine, was terrified of grass, open spaces, people, dogs, cats, just about everything in fact. Very dirty and scruffy and the vet reckoned recently lactating having just had pups. Probably been kept in a dirty, dark shed alone all her short life - about 12-18 months old.
She was so aggressive and horrid at the time I seriously thought there was no hope for her. Her one saving grace was that from the moment we collected her from RachelG she clung to my son so we knew she had the ability to love and be loved...the rest of us just ignored her giving her space and let her find her feet in her own time, took a few months but she finally twigged this was her home, and when we lost my auntie my dad couldn't bear to part with Sandy so I officially adopted her. BEST decision I've ever made!!!
She has come on fantastic and now is the most amazing loving little doglet I've ever known, she is still wary of people and other dogs until she gets to know them, but she is one of those dogs you can trust off lead anywhere, always by my heel. It took her at least 12 months to finally figure out that outside is for toileting, with just the occasional accident indoors now when it's raining or she gets caught short.
Oh and she's the most fantastic cuddlebum and keeps me warm at night snuggled under the duvet with me.
Ooops! 2011 not 2010!
