Bobby is the most adorable KCC boy who has found his way into the home and hearts of a fabulous foster family.
Bobby came to TLDR from a home situation. His story is rather sad. It appears he may have been in rescue or pounds more than once in his life. He was homed around 3 yrs ago by a family, who gave him up to a friend of theirs because he was 'too lazy' for their other dog. Sadly his laziness wasn't spotted as being the result of a heart problem and when his new owner discovered this she reluctantly signed him over to us as she was unable to manage his medication on her income.
We think that Bobby is around 8 years of age. When he came to TLDR it was clear he needed some TLC, his ears were matted and he was generally tired and lethargic.
He moved to his foster home, travelling nicely in the car albeit a little travel sick, and settled in very quickly with the resident dog and the family's young children.
A thorough vet check confirmed a Grade 5 heart murmur, some loss of sight and hearing, extensively rotten teeth and sore gums. Poor Bobby was feeling pretty rotten
He was immediately put on Fortekor for his heart, but the murmur is too severe for an anaesthetic so he cannot be neutered or receive dental work, this is being managed conservatively with brushing and a sensible diet.
Bobby had a groom and clipping of his ears to remove the mats and within days was firmly under the skin and in the hearts of his foster family where he will remain as a Lifetime Foster Dog.
The medication is doing the trick and although Bobby is very ill he is enjoying his life and loves his walks. He makes the most of every day, laps up the fuss he gets from the children and loves his companion Milo, a Daxi x JRT boy.
Bobby will remain in his foster family for the remainder of his life, with all veterinary expenses covered by the rescue. As time goes on his medication needs may increase, and of course there is an ongoing need for the Fortekor.
Can you help spare a few pounds towards Bobby's regular vet bills and ensure he continues to have a good quality of life?
Every donation, no matter the size, is invaluable in helping us to help these dogs. With the current economic situation more and more dogs are finding their way to the safety of LDR, and we are seeing more elderly or unwell dogs, in need of TLC and medical care.
Please find it in your heart to offer a small donation, or perhaps a regular monthly payment by Standing Order (details can be given for this, please PM a member of staff).
