Jenny is a very gentle 13 year old cross breed girl who on arrival in foster was quite anxious, however, a few small pieces of cheese later and she made herself right at home on the sofa.
Her foster mum gave her plenty of space to settle in and allowed her to come to her in her own time and she has certainly grown in confidence with this approach. Jenny is a remarkably quiet dog and has only been heard to bark once - at a cat!
Jenny has regular short walks, she is incredibly undemanding as far as exercise goes but being an older lady she needs regular opportunities to be able to go to the toilet.
When Jenny first arrived, we were told that she has no muscle in her back legs (you will quite often see them trembling if she stands for too long). When out on walks, she will nearly always turn back for home before even reaching the end of the road. She has on occasion managed longer walks but is just as content with her little walks.
She is fantastic on the lead and appears to get on well with other dogs but seems a little too interested in cats!
Jenny adores being out in the garden and will nearly always start running circles in excitement. Unfortunately she ruptured the cruciate ligament in her back right leg doing just this. However, after a period of bed rest and supervision when out in the garden, her leg is healing well and she is perfectly able to get about, she just has a tiny limp as a result of the rupture, and needs a little help getting up on the sofa.
Jenny has coped incredibly well with her fosterer's baby daughter, particularly given her background of having been badly treated by a small child. However, we think it would be lovely for her to be able to find an adult-only home or a home where any children are older.
In true old lady style, Jenny has seen a little ‘wear and tear’ over the years. Her eyesight and hearing have deteriorated a little.
Jenny's fosterer has this to add:
"Jenny is a treasure! It is to her absolute credit that she has remained so gentle and affectionate a dog, despite her difficult background. All she asks is good food and a cosy spot on the sofa to call her own."
Jenny is spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, flea and worm treated.
