Dolly has been temporarily removed from our Dogs Needing Homes board following the discovery that she is in need of further medical treatment, and she will remain a Special Care Dog for the time being.
When Dolly came to us it was noted at one of her vet checks that she had an old injury to one of her back legs, causing the knee to be out of alignment. As this was stable and not causing her any pain, the vet felt it would not be in her interests at that stage to operate, and it was thought safe to proceed with a homing. However a few weeks ago Dolly's foster Mum Jill noticed that Dolly was favouring the leg quite noticeably, and whilst she was still enjoying her walks and running happily, she was not using the damaged leg at all. A further vet check found that the joint had become unstable, causing the kneecap to move, in fact it had slipped all the way up her leg and whilst she was still not showing any major pain or distress, if not dealt with now she would suffer serious arthritic problems in the foreseeable future. Obviously this could not be left untreated, and Dolly's homing has been postponed whilst we obtain the necessary quotes from vets with the expertise in this field. We have already been given figures of £1200-£1400 but have also been given details of other vets out of area who may be able to assist. As a small rescue our available funds for such an operation are very limited. And we are therefore fundraising in other ways to reach the target needed to ensure Dolly receives the best treatment available. If you are able to spare a little towards Dolly's operation even £1, ever penny really does count, and we would be very grateful. Dolly so deserves to be in a home of her own enjoying all the love and luxuries that brings, and the sooner she is healed and rehabilitated the sooner we can recommence looking for that home. If you would like to make a donation, you can do so via Paypal, Bank Transfer or by sending a Cheque. Full details are below. Thank you for your ongoing support. Hi everyone As per my post on Dolly vet request to Sam yesterday . The vets that will be doing the operation have offered to help Dolly by possibly reducing the cost of the operation or by allowing the charity to pay in instalments. Irene the lady dealing with Dolly case at the vets has ask for a few things before their go a head. They have requested confirmtion we are a charity a vat register form and a copy of the charity accounts.
Hopeful Sam will be able to provided the information that they have requested . As this appears to be a excellent opportunity for Dolly. Dolly again thanks you all for your support and donations.

Hi Everyone Here is a little video of Dolly destroying her latest squeaky toy. The toy had 5 squeakies inside in less than 24hours it had none. Thank you all for supporting Dolly, I’m still waiting to hear back from Sam who’s was going to contact the vets regarding the possibility of paying for Dolly’s operation in instalments or a significant discount. Once again thank you for your support via the forum and has soon as I have any news I will update you all.

Hi Everyone,
We have wonderful news about Dolly, she is booked in for her operation on the 8th of October.
After I wrote to Matt, ( Dolly’s previous owner ) and explaining Dolly's situation. Matt has kindly donated £1,000 towards the operation. After I spoke to the Vet’s they have agreed to perform the operation at a reduce cost of £1,200, with the Little Dog Rescue paying the £200.
After the operation Dolly will be house bound for at least a month, no jump or running and the only walking is to the garden for wee’s and then that's on a lead to make sure the knee is not over used. If all goes well she will be fully recovered within three months.
Thanks you again for all your support and a special thanks to Matt.
Jill and Dolly

Hi everyone , Dolly has just come out of her operation and is in recovery hopefully cuddling her toy she took with her. Dolly's surgery went on longer than predicted as the it was more complicated than they thought . I will be calling later to see how she is doing. If everything go's ok she can come home tomorrow evening. The vet wants to keep a close eye on her due to the extra repairs that were needed. Thank you all for your best wishes.
Jill and Dolly x
