Milly and Lady came to TLDR from a private home situation when their elderly owner became unable to offer them the same quality of care she had previously provided. The girls were very much loved and it shows in their beautiful temperaments and sunny personalities.





Milly is a 3 year old Yorkshire Terrier, and Lady is an approximately 5 year old Chihuahua. They are a bonded pair and will not be separated, so please do not ask us to do so. The girls are currently with a fosterer in Wigan, sharing the home with a multi dog pack and mixing with dogs much larger than themselves, although they do tend to prefer those around their own size.

They greet new dogs on walks in a cautious but friendly manner, showing no aggression at all. They are also fine with cats, although have not been tested with smaller furries.





Both girls have met children aged from 2 years upwards, and have accepted the attention well, as long as approached quietly and calmly. However they have previously lived in a quiet, calm home in the company of a retired lady, and are unused to the noise and bustle that children bring. For this reason we would prefer to home where children are aged 12+ and show an awareness of sensible behaviour around very small dogs - these are not toys to be carried around or dressed up!

Neither are fussy eaters, nor food possessive, and will happily swap dishes, or share from the same bowl. However, the fosterer has been keeping them separate when feeding as Lady can be a little greedy and did need to lose a little weight, so this was being carefully monitored.





Millie and Lady travel very well, settling down in a crate together, indeed they love their crate and happily snuggle down in it indoors too, and are happy to be left for a few hours so long as they have each other for company.

On the lead Millie pulls a little, and Lady can be a little sluggish, but both enjoy their walks and we would like to see them in a home where they will continue to receive 2 active walks a day. Lady's recall off lead is excellent, Millie's still needs some work, but she is happy to be walked on an extending lead to allow a little freedom.





The girls are both very friendly, and love to meet new people. They are happy to accept being fussed, even by strangers.

Grooming is also accepted happily by them both...they really are total little angels!

Their foster Mum had this to say: "These 2 are a delightful little pair of dogs, so very affectionate and no trouble whatsoever. Lady is the more confident of the 2, Millie the more subdued of the pair. Wherever Lady is Millie is never far behind and loves to snuggle with Lady. For this reason the pair need to home together. Both are house trained but don't like going in the garden when it is raining and may wee inside the doorway. They love their walks and get excited when it's time to go out. I will miss these 2. They are just adorable and no trouble whatsoever. Lady still needs to lose a bit of weight and they both need regular walks."

The girls are both spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, worm and flea-treated.

what a stunning pair of sweeties, i wish i could have them , but i used to have 3 yorkies and although i loved each one equally, you just cant cuddle three at the same time, and i always felt one was left out, although in fact she wasnt but it felt that way, so i would only ever have two dogs at a time and wit my benji that makes one two many
I am sure LDR will find the right home for these two beautiful little girls.

oh what adorable little dogs and how very sweet they are i would have put in to adopt them with a heartbeat
but my head tells me that three dogs would be too much i already have chilly my chihuahua otherwise i would have loved to have them.I know that they will soon find a loving forever home soon i shall keep a close eye on them i am not far from wigan really.

Yes they are adorable I've submitted an application for them. I just can't help myself I'm checking their thread every few hrs.
If my hubby and I were found suitable our home would be complete again. Fingers and toes crossed here.
We're based in wigan so you wouldn't have to completely lose sight of them.

i really love these little dogs.its very rural around here lots of doggy walks and parks and fields to play on
they have got such a loving and trusting look in their eyes you can tell they are close and would pine for one another
if seperated i agree they should go to their forever home together. i only live about an hour away from wigan in the car.

Yes their love for each other really shines through xxx they remind me so much of my whiskey and jessie my two dogs many years ago we had six cats at the time too hahaha but they only had time and eyes for each other. Although bubble one of my cats would try to join in even walking behind us all the way down the canal bless. All my furry friends have now passed. So if were privileged enough for these to adopt hubby and I we and they would be the only pack members. Xxxx

I have applied for a couple of dogs now from the little dog rescue but never hear anything back at all, despite the dogs in question remaining in need of a home. I've already had a homecheck for a different rescue at the end of August which was a pass. I know each rescue has different requirements but having not had a phone call even I'm beginning to wonder what it is on my application that makes my family appear unsuitable? We have a very loving home with plenty of time for another dog in need of its own family xx

Hmm I wonder how a basic form tells them anything. I thought that the forum was a good idea enabling dog lovers to get to know each other a little bit and garner a bit more information about applicants but even these chats about the dogs dont happen.
I would have been happy to donate from time to time but it appears that indeed they aren't looking for my sort of loving home either.
At the end of the day an email costs nothing.

Multiple applications have been received for the girls and are being looked at in detail which takes some time. Each telephone interview can take up to an hour. Alongside that we have a very urgent situation with Dolly, a JRT needing an immediate alternative foster placement with no offers, who has to move today due to her fosterer going in to hospital, and a crisis with another recently homed dog. I am sorry if you feel the delay is inconvenient, but we are all volunteers, managing rescue around our own lives, and the needs of a dog such as Dolly who has nowhere to go must take priority over those already safely in foster. All suitable applications will be contacted in due course. Thank you.

So sorry to hear about dolly unfortunately I have to have my daughters little dog from Friday through to a week Monday or I would have offered to help in any way. Being based in wigan where you have an established foster mum you could have trusted our door to be open for inspection spot checks 24 7.
My husband has a disability and Niether of us drive and are looking for permanent pets but have looked after friends dogs in addition to our own at times.

nothing has been mentioned about these little darlings i filled in a form but take it that i wasnt suitable have they now been rehomed if not i do hope they will find their loving forever home no doubt though that they are dearly taken care of by their fosterer who shows
them loads of loving care i bet she will find it very hard to part with them i know i would i would want to keep them

There are many applications being worked through and some still to call. All suitable applications should have been contacted by the end of this week. Whilst an application may not be 100% ideal for this pair, it may be suitable for another dog so you will be contacted to discuss alternatives wherever possible

We are percificly looking for a bonded pair which are surprising hard to find unless they are big dogs which we aren't suitable for disabled hubby and no transport. Plus we've only ever had small dogs.

These 2 little treasures are still with me and as Clare ( Girlytrude) has stated applicants will be looked at in due course. I will find it hard when they leave as I have with previous foster doggies but I have enough dogs of my own and can't keep em all x

God bless you clair and all of you foster mums. I would foster myself in a heartbeat but hubby with his disability brain injury would bond too deeply with all of them bless him and doggies really take to him too. He's a real calm dog whisperer bless.

I have 4 dogs (chi's) two of whom are rescue dogs. I have always had rescue dogs and would also foster if could. I have done it twice in the past and both times they only left me after many years when they went to Rainbow Bridge!

My doggie before last was a elderly rescue dog whisky who we treasured until going over the rainbow . We recently lost our last doggie after seventeen wonderful years and once again want to go the rescue route. Now we are both home every day we can devote all our time to a couple of little dogs again. There is such a big hole in our lives at the moment we're looking to be complete again.

bless you chidee and clare for doing such a wonderful job if i was a lot younger i would have done it myself but then when i was younger i had to take care of my sick mother,my grandchildren (who had lost their mum) for my son at the weekends whilst he had a brake on top of all of this i had to work because i am a widow.but these days such awful thing happen to our very loved animals and they certainly need people like you who help to sort them out good luck to you and our little doggie friends ,
