Frazzle is an 8-10 year old Spaniel X fellow. The pictures below show what this little lad looked like when he was taken into the pound. And the next one shows Frazzle after his first haircut with the mats and dirt removed. He is a lovely boy and has had, and still has, his fair share of health problems. Frazzle is on a special diet due to kidney stones and also has Cushing's Syndrome. His wonderful fosterer has made incredible progress with him and has taken such wonderful care of him. However, he will always need specialized attention so he is now one of our cherished Lifetime Foster Dogs. If you would like to help Frazzle in some way please consider making a regular donation which will help us to ensure his medication and special diet costs are covered. You can arrange a payment by Standing Order - please ask us for details of how to set this up. Every donation goes towards the dogs' care and every penny helps. Thank you.

Hi everyone! I'm Frazzle's fosterer and I will give you updates on this lovely little man. I have loads of photos to share with you all since he's been here with us. He's a little star - 100% housetrained, barely barks at all, walks well on the lead, and he now greets most dogs nicely. After months of not really knowing how to play, he now loves his squeaky toys (much to the 'delight' of my eardrums ). He's calm and very easy going, but if he knows his food or a walk is imminent, he'll pant and spin and get very excitable Health-wise, he's pretty good most of the time but he is prone to brief bouts of illness because his immune system is suppressed due to the Cushings. His kidney stones are managed with a special diet so he's rarely troubled with problems there. Me and the OH (forum name: frazzlestrampoline) love him to bits and we feel privileged that we get to look after him for the rest of his days. It's been nearly a year since he arrived and we really cherish every day he's with us because he's part of our family now. Here's a video filmed last month of Frazz murdering a squeaky toy :

Thankfully he's now killed the squeak in this toy now - it was REALLY loud!

He does look younger than his years when he plays, but the cloudiness in his eyes tells another story. We didn't think he'd ever play for the first few months he was here, then some friends got him a squeaky purple pig and suddenly a new, happier and boingier Frazzle emerged ;D

Oh he's scrummy and looks like a bundle of fun. Give him a huggle from me. I had a TLDR lifetime foster doglet a gorgeous blue Beddie called Sammy who's now sadly at The Bridge, my big beautiful Gyppy dog now has Cushings but like you with Frazzle its manageable and we take each day as it comes and enjoy it. I realise we are long overdue some new pics of old Frazz, so here's eight of them for your viewing pleasure! By the way, I haven't thought for a while that he is a spaniel X - perhaps that came from the floppy ears he first seemed to have when he came in from the pound. The hair on them has since been trimmed, which now look much more terrier-like. I'm inclined to think he's JRT x Bichon. Some people I meet around town say he's like a fox terrier, but his snout isn't as "boxy". Anyway, here's the lovely Frazzle: Chomping on a carrot 2012-10-25 21.20.20 by avw1977, on Flickr Pre-walk excitement! 2012-10-22 17.26.49 by avw1977, on Flickr Someone wants something... 2012-10-09 18.41.33 by avw1977, on Flickr Happy Frazzle 2012-09-10 18.00.26 by avw1977, on Flickr Playtime for Frazz (and Chris aka frazzlestrampoline) 2012-12-17 16.23.14 by avw1977, on Flickr Out for a walk 2013-05-18 11.16.30 by avw1977, on Flickr Sleeping under my desk! 2013-06-14 12.21.16 by avw1977, on Flickr Fuzzy Frazzle on the rug 2013-05-27 14.28.53 by avw1977, on Flickr

So nice to hear he's doing and looking so well x I'll second that - though, I do think there's some teddy-bear in the mix! I love his hair-do. I just wish I could find someone who could do Ollie's so well. So far the ones I've tried just seem to clip it unevenly even though they say he's as good as gold.

There's a superb groomer in Diss we go to. She's wound her business down a bit and only tends to do the dogs she likes - and she likes doing Frazzle! She's brilliant. She takes her time with him because he's that bit older and hand-clips his legs. I took him to a different groomer a couple of months after he first arrived and she just clipped him short all over. Having a big belly (at the time) and skinny legs, the cut made him look awful, and he looked really thin around the face. I now specify a Westie cut around the face for Frazz and she keeps the hair on the ears quite short, so it enhances his puppy/teddy-like features! Looking at pics of Lakelands, I think you might be right. Such a difficult thing to pinpoint, isn't it? I think we should call him Frazzle breed!

Hello All. I've been testing out the camera on my new phone and "someone" makes a very good model! A few of the pics came out really well and I thought you'd like to see them."Hurry Up Chris - There's things that need sniffing!" "Frazzle Crosses The Divide" "Why are you pointing that thing at me? It isn't edible is it?" It's 90 minutes to dinner time. Let the begging commence.... "I LOVE playing with DUCKIE!!!"

Hello I realise it's been a while since the last update. It's partly to do with the fact that I'm working away from home a couple of days a week so I've been settling into a new routine - and so has Frazz. He's getting very good at travelling and is now unfazed when he travels on the train, tube and bus, though sometimes he is more obliging when we bribe him with a nice rice bone! He also comes into the office with me some days and gets on well with everyone, especially with Fudge, the resident staffie. If he's down in London with me at my parents' place, he'll sometimes spend the day with them. My folks dote on him because he is absolutely no bother - he mostly sleeps and doesn't bark, but he does like to play tuggy with his squeaky duck and gets very bouncy at meal and walk times. Some weeks he'll stay at home with Chris/Frazzlestrampoline. He mostly behaves himself when I'm away but he does grumble more than usual and gets a little willful on walks. Even though Frazz and I have a strong bond, I just think he likes us all being together. There has been a change recently in his sleeping habits. He started sleeping in the bedroom with us a couple of months after he arrived, and this has continued up until a month ago. Last month, I was suffering with a cold and a cough, and I noticed that he would recoil or back away when I coughed. Perhaps it sounds like a growl or a bark to dogs? Anyway, at bedtime, he'd be up on the bed, ready to tuck into his regular falling asleep spot curled up by my lower legs, when suddenly I would cough and very soon afterwards he would get off the bed, nose the bedroom door open and make his way downstairs. We thought it would just be while I was poorly, but even though he would make his way to the bedroom when we went up after I got better, he'd stay for a bit of fuss for a couple of minutes before leaving the bedroom. And it's not just our room either - he does exactly the same when we stay with my parents. I did wonder whether the change in routine and me being away or him being away from home comforts had something to do with it. There's no significant change in his behaviour during the day and I don't feel he's trying to distance himself. I'm just a bit puzzled by this new habit. Anyone got any ideas?

No ideas sorry, but what a lovely little happy chap you have turned him into. The pictures are wonderful, he is a credit to your hard work.

Thanks so much for your kind words, chilover Overall, he is a content little chap and we've been lucky that he's not noisy or destructive in any way. However, I guess like most dogs, he likes routine, and I worry a bit about the effect it's having on him with all the comings and goings. The end goal is for us all to move to London so it'll be less disruptive for all concerned but our moving fund is looking sparse at the moment. We'll get there. Care for Frazzle will always be a priority for us though, to ensure he remains the happy little man we know and love

Can't believe it's been so long since I last wrote an update on Frazz - time just flies by!
Well, we moved to London from Norfolk in February and Frazzle is now a city dog. He's taken to city life pretty well - we've taken in some parks and he's been walked over the Thames. The downside is that there are many more discarded chicken bones on the pavement that I've had to fish out of his mouth. Just means being more vigilant really.
Some of you may have seen Chris' post last month about trying to get Frazzle to adjust to my going to work for the day and cheering him up when Chris is looking after him. He's still a bit glum when I go out for the day but he is slowly getting used to it. He does come into work with me at least once a week. The commute is tricky (bus drivers sometimes insist on you taking the dog to the top deck and Frazzle HATES getting picked up) but he loves being in the office and he gets on with everyone.
His age is starting to catch up with him. He can't manage the longer distances as much as he used to and his legs are getting a bit weaker. He also likes to have a bit of a lie in of a morning. We used to have breakfast down for him at 8am and he'd guzzle it down. Now, he'll have a sniff or perhaps a cursory nibble and walk away, then eating it just before he is ready to go out for his morning walk. He will eat his food throughout the day and eats about the same quantities of his prescribed kidney stone kibble, but he seems happier grazing. He did have a spate of being ill and needing antibiotics to get him over some nasty bacterial infection a few weeks ago, but he's now much more settled.
He's still the gentle, silly soul he's always been and there's still plenty of life in him. No one really believes me when I say he's over 10 years old!
I'll post a few pics soon.
