Izzy left for her new home yesterday. Elizabeth will give us an update as soon as she can, and I notice that Izzy's lovely Mum and Dad have joined the forum, so hopefully we'll be getting lots of updates and news! ;D XX

Oh, my goodness. Where to start?! Izzy's new mummy and daddy (Eric and Gail) arrived to collect her on Monday. Izzy gave them a lovely big welcome, which was the least she could do given that they had travelled all the way from the very northern most part of Scotland to collect her! They brought with them all sorts of bits and pieces to make Izzy's journey comfortable, as well as a lovely new collar, so we had a collar-changing ceremony just before Izzy departed. Off she went with a small paper bag suitcase - didn't even look back!! She was apparently good as gold all the way home. Behaved herself in the hotel for the overnight stay en route. And even ate all her dinner! (She often didn't eat when she went somewhere new - e.g. when I took her with me to visit my mother - so this says an awful lot.) It's a funny thing this rescue business. You see some very sad or mixed up dogs and consequently spend a lot of time wondering how people can be so awful - neglectful, careless, even abusive - and it's sometimes difficult not to get quite pessimistic about the human race in general. Then along come two extraordinary people. Two people who are willing to take two days out of their holiday and brave horrendous driving conditions in the snow in order to spend an hour or two meeting one little dog somewhere in Wiltshire. Then, later, they travel the entire length of the British Isles in order to pick her up. In doing all this they spend literally days on the road and undoubtedly also spend more than the cost of buying a top-kennel 'show' puppy with no 'past', no 'problems'. Wow. Parting with Izzy was never going to be easy. But Eric and Gail have made it very nearly so - certainly as easy as it was possible to make it. My fear had always been that, when it came to it, I would worry about some tiny detail or another that would prey on my mind until I questioned whether I had made the 'right' decision. But, while I've missed her like mad, I've slept like a log. I know she's going to be very happy and - as I said to Clare - the only possible risk is that she'll collapse under the weight of non-stop love and attention . Way to go Izzy Wizzy!

A Big Hello to Everybody from Eric, Gail and Izzy After such a wonderful write up from Elizabeth its hard to know were to start. The welcome we got from Izzy when we went to collect her was amazing and a bit of a surprise considering on the first visit she played things quite cool checking us out and allowing us to give strokes and tickles, but on the return WOW no mistaking that she had chosen us and was very glad we came back. The trip north was uneventful after the initial shock that we weren't going for a walk it was settle on the back seat and get spooked by the cars going past and apart from some unsettled periods through roadworks Izzy just took everything in her stride. (Until she met the hotel cat on Monday night - don't know who got the biggest shock me or the cat) /home/ericrollo/Pictures/Izzy/Izzy 1.JPG[/img] /home/ericrollo/Pictures/Izzy/Izzy 2.JPG[/img] Izzy making herself at home in the hotel (Hopefully 2 pics have appeared above, if not please let me know how to paste in pics so you can all see how awful she found the hotel) Needless to say Tuesday was as tough a travelling day as Monday - just joking it was a breeze and Izzy got more relaxed the further we travelled. On Tuesday night we set up a nice bed for her which she ignored and decided she would sleep on some clothes in our bedroom so all plans are now changed and new bed is being arranged in the bedroom, so saving cleaning off dog hairs from my clothes every morning. Today she has braved a blizzard for her walk and christened our garden and is now laying on the settee having a tummy tickle and snoring /home/ericrollo/Pictures/Izzy/Izzy 3.JPG[/img] I will try and keep you all up to date with how things go but Izzy seems to be settled and arranging things to suit her. Eric and Gail (Izzy's new mummy and daddy)

The photos are fantastic! She doesn't look like a dog who's thinking "where am I...what's happening?" does she Nope, that's the face of one very contented girl who knows she just found the most perfect home. XX

What lovely pictures! And how lovely it is to see Izzy so quickly settled - always said she was a bright dog (she obviously knows she's on to a good thing!). I have finally found the lead to connect my very rubbish camera to my computer, so here are a couple of pix of Izzy on her last day at the Doghouse. Monday morning - waiting for mummy and daddy to arrive. 'Oh well, I've waited 355 days - I suppose a couple more hours won't hurt!': Check out my lovely bespoke collar! eh?
