Sam - a real gentleman! Good with cats, good with children, good with adults - this boy is just brilliant all round. Look beyond his age and you find a quiet but lively boy, a little stiff, but still loving his walks. Deaf as a post but still mentally bright enough to have learned hand signals. Totally social with other dogs but now looking for the quiet life and a home all of his own. Sam has quite a few of us firmly under his paws - there's just something so appealing about this lad! Undemanding but a sponge for affection and training. Yes, he's epileptic, but he has shown no sign of fits in his foster home so the epilepsy is well controlled by the Epiphen tablets that he takes twice a day. We've just had his blood checked and all is fine. This will need repeating in three months time, when he's due a peak test. Sam's not bothered about toys - would you be at his age? - but he's exceedingly fond of cheese as a training aid. He travels well in a car, can be left for reasonable periods with no fuss at all, walks well on a lead if a little inclined to wander around and is calm and friendly when meeting new people who are, of course, expected to provide strokes and skritches. Groomers - no problem although he really doesn't like the driers. Sam's neutered and microchipped although not vaccinated on veterinary advice. Sam's foster carer says "He's a lovely, happy little soul. He may have some hearing but not very much, so needs to be kept on a flexi lead when out and about.. also care taken that he's not startled from sleep etc. He's much more playful and energetic than I'd have expected from a dog of this age.. loves his walks and the occasional trot and sniff." Do you have a Sam-sized space in your life? If you are interested in adopting Sam please complete our online adoption form here:

and someone will give you a call as soon as possible.

Sam's one of the most easy-going dogs I've ever met. He's very self-possessed, and has put up with spitting cats, kittens, boisterous kids and dogs, and behaved like a total gentleman. It would be lovely if he could find a nice quiet home for his retirement.

:-*Aww Bless him, I hope he finds a nice cosy retirement home, I love The Golden Oldies. My Sammy TT Beddie was a gentle doglet and so much fun and he made us laugh every day with his antics. He was a tldr sponsor doglet.

Just to update on Sam; he hasn't seemed his usual chirpy self over the last few days, so I'm booking him in for a health check at the vets next week. Hopefully nothing serious, but we want to make sure he has the all clear before taking any adoption applications further.
Sorry that this means a bit of a delay, but as soon as I have the vet's report, I'll let you all know what's happening.

We've had 4 poodles in our lives, all well loved and long lived. They're all playing at the bridge now x

Thanks for the kind messages. Sam does seem quite a bit better, but the junior locum vet I saw has asked me to take him back next week for the resident vet to take a look. They might want to run some tests, just to check everything's OK. x

Wow, I just came here to post an update and you already know!! hahaha.
A lovely lady who was interested in Sam visited yesterday on the spur of the moment, and fell in love with him. He's gone to the most perfect home possible and is all set to be pampered for the rest of his days. ;D
I'm really missing him already, but am so, so pleased he's found such a lovely forever home. xxx
